No Reason

Contrary to the traditional painting approach of adding to create form, Lancelot Blondeel builds relief by concentrating material in certain points on the canvas. This unique technique highlights the gestural element of the artist’s practice, which favors curved lines and vivid colors.

The use of bichromy is integrated into a simple composition. The work with washes applied in successive layers enhances the textural effects, creating an impression of depth. Finally, the relief is crafted to capture shadows and light, thus emphasizing the three-dimensional aspect.
